Investigative Journalist Fakhar Durrani, who has been covering the case since its start, took to Twitter to inform the people about the development in the case. He said, “The last hearing of the case was held in January. Since then Faisal Vawda is using deceiving tactics to delay the case.”

He added that petitioner Mian Faisal on Wednesday submitted an application in the court, saying that the respondent, Faisal Vawda, hasn’t submitted a reply in the court in last five months and he wants to ‘intentionally’ delay the matter.
“The case needs the attention of this court on urgent basis as fundamental rights of the petitioner as well as the general public are involved,” the application stated.
In January, an investigative news report published in The News suggested that the minister may have provided false information to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) about his nationality status at the time of filing his nomination papers on the 11th of June, 2018. If true, this would amount to perjury on the part of the Minister.
The report noted that there are documents showing that in June 2018, Vawda had declared that he had only Pakistani citizenship at that time. But, according to the investigation, the Minister actually had a US passport at that time – and his status as a US citizen continued even up to the point when the nomination process in Pakistan was complete.
