Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Kamran Hayat, who allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to retain “bat” as its electoral symbol while suspending the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision regarding the withdrawal of the symbol over flawed intra-party polls, was the additional advocate general during the tenure of the PTI government, and his brother is contesting upcoming general elections on the PTI ticket.
While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that the verdict announced by PHC Justice Kamran Hayat has become controversial. Why Chief Justice of the PHC marked the case to Justice Hayat, who has an affiliation with the PTI, he questioned.
The analyst said that Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faiz Isa should take notice of it and halt the facilitation being provided to the PTI by the PHC.
While responding to a question regarding the re-arrest of PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Suharwardy said that Qureshi is trying to play the ‘double game’; he is seeking forgiveness from the establishment, but on the other hand, he is proving loyalties with PTI founder Imran Khan. He said that the state will not allow anyone to play the 'double game.'
To another question, the analyst said that now there is no chance of seat adjustment between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), adding that this will benefit the Pakistan Peoples Party and that it will clean sweep in Sindh on February 8.
