Former Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has moved yet another application before the Supreme Court, seeking adjudication of his petition against the Oct 11, 2018 notification that removed him as a judge, before he reaches his retirement date.
In his request, the former judge requested the top court to hold a hearing of the case preferably on May 4. In 2018, Shaukat Siddiqui was removed as the IHC judge after Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) recommended the same on the grounds that he displayed conduct unbecoming of a judge by addressing the District Bar Association in Rawalpindi. The recommendation was made under Article 209 of the constitution.
In the said address, Siddiqui had spoken about the alleged involvement of agencies in judicial affairs and alleged that the formation of benches of the high court is manipulated by certain officials.
