The administrations of Polyclinic and PIMS Hospital in Islamabad reportedly refused to store the dead body of a Christian woman in their morgues.

According to media reports, the family of the victim spent hours to have their loved one’s body stored and washed.

Hospitals in the federal capital do not allow the washing of dead bodies of members of the non-Muslim communities.

It is important to note that members of the sanitation department are given the duties of putting the dead bodies in the morgue, and these members are themselves from the non-Muslim communities.

Christian organisations have demanded to the prime minister to take note of such discrimination prevalent in institutions of the country.

The incident comes days after the Pakistani prime minister lamented the prevailing Islamophobia in the world at the United Nations General Assembly. A Twitter user invoked the prime minister's criticism of the west for Islamophobia in his response to the news.
