Minister of State for Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi has said that in a critical security situation like the one facing Pakistan these days, the army chief could be considered the father of the nation.
During a talk show on a TV channel, the host probed Afridi about the role of the army chief and asked how a single person could be depended on to deal with tough situations. The minister, in his reply, implied that the army chief was the nation’s father in tough situations.
He said that every house had a father and mother, and each of them had a separate role. He added that at a critical stage where our national security was at stake, and the two countries (India and Pakistan) possessed nuclear power, all countries had to take strong measures.
The host pointed out that that the example needed to be changed, as one’s father cannot be changed after every three or six years.
