DAWN reported that Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department spokesman Qaiser Asif, has confirmed that the cook of Maria B was under quarantine at the Vehari DHQ, adding that the patient's contacts were being traced and would also be tested.
On Tuesday, Lahore police had registered a First Information Report (FIR) at Nishtar Colony Station against Maria B's husband, Tahir Saeed, for sending the coronavirus-diagnosed employee to his village without informing the authorities.
Meanwhile, Maria B on Tuesday released a video on social media, saying that her house was raided by police personnel ‘as if she was the biggest drug mafia don in Lahore, with guns’. In another video, Tahir Saeed after his bail, said that the incident was one of ‘pure panic’ and ‘abuse’.
In an official statement, the Lahore police spokesperson dismissed the criticism and said that they had taken only ‘timely action and sent a message to other violators’. The statement said that the patient had met numerous people during his visit to his native village in district Vehari. “This action had left almost hundreds of innocent people vulnerable to the coronavirus,” the statement read, adding that Saeed had been released on bail.
