Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz politician Ahsan Iqbal was arrested today by the National Accountability Bureau for alleged involvement in corruption related to the Narowal Sports City project.
The PML-N leader is alleged to have transferred funds given to the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for the project in Narowal.
Following his arrest, supporters of the ruling party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, initiated a trend on Twitter with the name, ‘Aristotle Got Caught’, to poke fun at the PML-N leader.

The PML-N supremo, Nawaz Sharif, convicted for corruption in the Al-Azizia steel mills case, is on bail in London for medical treatment. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is facing action in the LNG scandal, while Rana Sanaullah is in jail for being allegedly caught with narcotics in his car. Maryam Nawaz, the party’s vice president, has been convicted in the Avenfield reference case.
With Ahsan Iqbal’s arrest, observers have said that it seems part of a witch hunt to weaken the opposition parties.
