Social media users took strong exception to the lawmaker’s tweet and urged him to apologise for hurting sentiments of the Hindu community.
Sir, this is a very shameful expression by you. We stand in solidarity with our Hindu brothers and sisters, whom you have tried to demean. Hope you will delete this tweet soon and apologize to the people, who you have insulted. Thanks.

This is blasphemy. If we are part of this we won’t have any right to protest when others make fun of our religion, holy book and Prophet https://t.co/5cgLRfNNWb

In Pakistan, from orthodox politicians to immature ppl in media have no respect for other religions, Hinduism.
Immature person should know Hinduism belongs to our Indus civilisation, he has insulted our civilisation.
Just imagine, he is member of ruling party, spreading hatred https://t.co/iiXpQaLM5k— Veengas (@VeengasJ) February 24, 2021
This is not a first time a bigoted statement against the Hindu community has been made by members of the ruling party. In March 2019. Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hasan Chohan was sacked by the Punjab government over use of derogatory language against the Hindu community. He was later reinstated by the provincial government,
Addressing a press conference Chohan had used derogatory terms such as ‘cow urine drinkers’ and ‘idol worshippers’ for the Hindu community. Later, he apologized saying that he was referring to the ‘Hindus of India and not those living in Pakistan’.
