Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Aamir Liaquat is being criticised on social media for yet another inappropriate tweet wherein he posted picture of a Hindu deity to insult Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

Social media users took strong exception to the lawmaker’s tweet and urged him to apologise for hurting sentiments of the Hindu community.

This is not a first time a bigoted statement against the Hindu community has been made by members of the ruling party. In March 2019. Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hasan Chohan was sacked by the Punjab government over use of derogatory language against the Hindu community. He was later reinstated by the provincial government,

Addressing a press conference Chohan had used derogatory terms such as ‘cow urine drinkers’ and ‘idol worshippers’ for the Hindu community. Later, he apologized saying that he was referring to the ‘Hindus of India and not those living in Pakistan’.
