In an interview given to Voice of America Urdu, the federal minister for Information and Technology stated that the decision appeared to be personal vendetta through which the army had been targeted.
Khalid Siddiqui stated that they would raise the idea of challenging the decision in the federal cabinet, and in case no headway was no made, MQM-P would approach the court itself regarding the matter.
The federal minister opined that many aspects of the case had been ignored by the court and that people who were involved in the imposition of November 2007 were not even mentioned in the verdict.
Khalid Siddiqui further called into conversation a recent speech made by Chief Justice Asif Khosa in which he had said that a decision in the case of a former army chief was about to be made.
The MQM-P president asked how Khosa could have claimed, prior to the decision, that it would improve the image of the judiciary. He further opined that the decision seemed to be motivated by ethnic prejudice.
Regarding the response of the DG ISPR on the verdict, Khalid Siddiqui was of the view that the army spokesperson’s statement against the court was natural.
