‘Ex-CJP Bandial Elevated Junior Judges To SC, High Courts To Facilitate PTI’

‘Special justice and facilitation’ are being provided to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan by a fragment of the judiciary.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy raised the question, "Under what law did the Islamabad High Court (IHC) allow the PTI leaders to meet Imran Khan in Adiala Jail to discuss political matters?

The analyst mentioned that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was not allowed to meet any party leader during his imprisonment. Similarly, former president Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N leader Khawaja Asif were not allowed to hold any political meetings in jail, he added.

Suharwardy said that the PTI knows very well that it can beat its rivals through court only; the PTI leadership overturned Nawaz’s government through court and retained the election symbol ‘bat’ through court.

The analyst said that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faiz Isa should take notice, and a list should be formed of all judges whose relatives are contesting elections on PTI tickets. Those judges should be sent on leave until February 8, 2024, or they should not be allowed to hear any political cases, he suggested.

He said that former CJP Umar Ata Bandial brought junior judges to high courts and the Supreme Court to increase the number of like-minded judges and to facilitate the PTI.

While responding to a question, Suharwardy said that a second summons notice has been issued to former DG ISI Faez Hameed to appear before the court and record his statement in the Faizabad sit-in case. He added that Faez’s statement is being written in the GHQ law branch, which he will submit to the court.

To another question, the analyst said that, just like no one is willing to join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Punjab, similarly, no one is willing to join the PMl-N in Sindh. Therefore, the PPP will clean sweep in Sindh.
