South Asian Media Research Institute (SAMRI) posted a video of Ashraf Jalali on Twitter, in which the cleric can be heard saying that his party would hold a mass religious gathering in Lahore, despite the outbreak of coronavirus in the whole country.

“I am a firm believer of Allah, that’s why I believe that no one can get infected by coronavirus without the will of Almighty. The government of Pakistan can hang me, if any participant tested positive for coronavirus after attending the conference,” the cleric said in the video.

Dr Ashraf Jalali took to Twitter on Sunday, saying that the restriction placed by the government on religious gatherings in mosques and seminaries to counter the coronavirus are like inviting the ‘torment of Allah’.
