Twitter Reacts To Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s Fiery NA Speech

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi staged a walkout out of the National Assembly on Tuesday after criticising National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser for not issuing production orders of Rana Sanaullah.

While giving a speech in the National Assembly, Abbasi criticised Asad Qaiser for not issuing the production orders, saying, "I will not beg you for a production order and I am going back," following which he left the assembly in protest.

In a comment directly addressed to the speaker, Abbasi stated, "It is your duty to issue production orders of each and every member without discrimination at the start of each session. Denying production orders means negation of people's rights.”

Abbasi added that he had seen speakers like Fakhar Imam, Mairaj Khalid and Yousuf Raza Gillani, who never compromised on their principles. He said, “If you have pressure from somewhere please say it."

The former prime minister told Asad Qaiser, "Issue the production order of Rana Sanaullah and I am going."

Shahid Khaqan’s speech received widespread acclaim on social media, with people taking to Twitter to express their appreciation for the former PM’s speech.

Journalist Murtaza Solangi stated that Shaihid Khaqan Abbasi had taken National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser to the cleaners.

Former intelligence officer Masood Sharif Khattak stated that there should be more gallant and honourable men and women in the parliament in the mould of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as that would lend it (parliament) weight and respectability.

Journalist Reham Khan termed the former prime minister the ‘face of principled resistance’.

A social media user praised Shahid Khaqan and stated that he was their favourite person keeping all political differences aside.

Others appreciated the grace exhibited by him during his speech.

There were those who said that Shahid Khaqan was a man of his words and actions, and how, like a true lion, he had spoken against injustice of partiality in issuing production orders and had reminded the speaker of his responsibilities.
