The Syrian embassy in Qatar is the only embassy in the world opened by the Syrian opposition, a day after opponents of then-Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad were granted Syria’s seat at the Arab League. The embassy of the Syrian National Coalition was inaugurated on March 27, 2013, by Opposition Chief Ahmed Moaz Alkhatib and then-Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs Khaled Al-Attiya.
In an interview with Naya Daur, Dr. Tourkya emphasized Syria's inherent potential, asserting that its land and people possess the capability to wisely manage their affairs and contribute significantly to regional peace and progress.
