Rana Sanaullah To Replace Mohsin Naqvi As Interior Minister: Sources

The portfolio of the Interior Ministry is being withdrawn from Senator Mohsin Naqvi, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah has been signaled to replace him, said senior journalist Asif Bashir Chaudhry, citing sources.

While speaking at a program “Khabar Se Aagay” on Naya Daur TV, Asif said that Mohsin Naqvi is not a leader of any political party and he does not appear to defend government affairs, adding that there was also an objection from two Islamic brotherhood countries in this regard.

He said that powerful circles have been consulted, and the federal interior minister will be changed after the announcement of the budget.

The journalist said that it is a fact that defamation laws are weak in the country and the legislation needs improvement, but the Punjab government presented the Defamation Bill 2024 without consultation with any stakeholders.

He said that apart from the judiciary and the army, public office holders have also been made sacred cows, which is regrettable.

While talking about the attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Rauf Hasan, he said that if those who attacked Rauf are not caught, it will create the impression that the government was involved in the attack.
