Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday urged lawmakers to pay visit to homeless at government shelter homes in their respective areas and share meals with them.

The premier said this via his official Twitter account. Khan said that doing so will better acquaint public representatives with problems faced by the underprivileged. "Our provincial and federal elected representatives must visit Panah Gahs (shelter homes) in their areas and share a meal with the people using them."

Khan said that in the coming months, he will himself monitor effectiveness of the poverty alleviation 'jihad' of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

"This will sensitise them to issues faced by the bottom tier of our society. In the coming months I will personally monitor effectiveness of our poverty alleviation jihad," Khan said via his Twitter.

In 2018, the PTI government inaugurated shelter homes in Peshawar, Islamabad and Multan and vowed to make more to help the poor and needy.

‘Eat 1 Roti Instead of 2’: KP Assembly Speaker Shares Key To End Poverty

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani has suggested that savings can help tackle poverty and control inflation.

Ghani said this while speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ programme organised by Khyber Union of Journalists at Peshawar Press Club. On a question about poverty and inflation, Ghani said that if people start making savings, poverty would reduce to a great degree.

“If a person who eats two rotis in a day, brings the number to one then the next day he can afford to eat two to three roties,” he said. Ghani said that he tries to maintain role of a bridge between the treasury and opposition benches.
