Following the trend, Sami too tweeted messages of support for the Indian Army and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for which he was subjected to criticism and trolling from social media users in Pakistan.
He also faced criticism from high-profile Pakistani Twitter users. For example, Shaan Shahid took to Twitter to slam Adnan Sami calling him ‘a Pakistani product the country was ashamed of’. Shaan had also earlier called for removal of images and posters of Indian celebrities from billboards throughout Pakistan.

Shaan also said that Adnan was neither a Pakistani nor an intelligence agent. This particular comment was with reference to Sami being subjected to jokes and memes in Pakistani social media circles about how he is an ‘ISI agent’.
