Pakistani students in China have released videos on social media on Wednesday, saying that the situation in China is deteriorating due to widespread Coronavirus. They said Pakistani Embassy in China has neither been helping nor cooperating with them. The students requested the Pakistani authorities to assist them in this critical situation.

“It’s been more than one month, but the situation is still worsening for us, markets have been closed, and we are running out of food. Pakistani Embassy in China is not even picking our calls, even if they do so, they tell us that ‘life and death is in hands of Allah’ and we are doing what government of Pakistan has told us to do,” said the students.

The students said that they are very stressed and upset mentally and they are being kept in one room. "We're requesting the embassy repeatedly but the embassy staff told us, 'you should have followed the rules in China'. The Chinese government has only given us masks and thermometers and told us to sit and make do with these,” they added.

Earlier, it was reported that four Pakistani students in Wuhan, China, had tested positive for the coronavirus. One of them said they have appealed for assistance from the Pakistani government to rescue and retrieve them.

However, the government of Pakistan has decided not to repatriate Pakistani students stranded in China. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza has said that "we believe that right now, it is in the larger interest of the region, world, country that we don't evacuate them [Pakistani students] now."
