Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has reported a surge in the number of cases of coronavirus. On Friday, the province has reported 53 new cases of the deadly disease, and an MPA and a family member of National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser were said to be among the affectees.
Express Tribune reported that KP MPA Abdul Salam Afridi had tested positive for coronavirus. He is from the Manga area of Mardan, where the first death from coronavirus took place. The city has since been quarantined. 40 cases were reported from the same locality.
The MPA is now under quarantine in his house.
On Friday, the province observed a ban on congregational prayers. However, special prayers against the outbreak of coronavirus were offered in the province.
In a video message, Adviser to the CM on Information Ajmal Wazir said that the total number of positive coronavirus cases had risen to 176. Just three days ago, the provincial health department had reported 76 cases, which have now been doubled. The adviser to CM also called on the public to adopt preventive measures against the deadly virus and stay at home.
