Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi is facing backlash on social media for using a totally incorrect word to condemn Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies in a tweet that was deleted later.
The minister wrote, “Modi’s Dravidian supremacist ideology” instead of writing Modi’s 'Hinduvta' supremacist ideology in the tweet.
After being criticised on Twitter, he deleted the tweet and condemned the Indian prime minister’s extremist ideology again, saying: “Pakistan has consistently appealed to United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to condemn Modi’s Hindutva supremacist ideology with relentless Islamophobia & violence/regional instability perpetuated. We also welcome António Guterres agreement on need to counter Islamophobia & OIC-IPHRC’s earlier censure.”
Activist Sameera Khan took to Twitter and demanded Shah Mehmood Qureshi to apologise for giving an ‘ignorant’ and ‘racist’ remark about Dravidians. “Dravidians are the ones resisting Modi. Not only is this insanely ignorant & offensive, but also even racist. See, this is why I call him ‘Low IQ SMQ. He must apologize.”

Journalist Mohammad Taqi also posted a tweet, criticising the minister for making such a blunder. He said: “Matlab kuchh bhi bolay ga? [Will you say whatever you want?] Whatever the Ancestral South Indians or the Dravidians’ faults might be, they weren’t really supremacist. And they couldn’t have been Islamophobe 4 millennia before the advent of Islam, could they?”
