CAIRO: Arab foreign ministers have called for immediate international action to protect Palestinians and firmly rejected any attempt to forcibly displace them from their land, as regional concern over the humanitarian and political situation continues to intensify.
The call came through a series of resolutions adopted at the conclusion of a ministerial meeting of the Arab League in Cairo on Monday. The ministers reiterated their opposition to any measures aimed at changing the demographic character of Palestinian territories or compelling Palestinians to leave their homes.
The resolutions stressed the need for the international community to take urgent steps to protect Palestinian civilians and uphold their fundamental rights. Arab governments called for stronger international engagement to prevent further deterioration of the situation and to ensure that Palestinians are able to remain on their land.
The meeting also reflected the Arab League's broader position that the displacement of Palestinians cannot be accepted as a solution to the region's longstanding conflict. The ministers urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities under international law and take effective measures to safeguard civilians. They also called for continued diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing the Palestinian question and securing a political resolution based on internationally recognized principles.
The foreign ministers' appeal places renewed pressure on the international community to move beyond expressions of concern and take concrete measures to protect civilians. It also underscores the Arab bloc's insistence that any sustainable peace must address Palestinian rights and prevent attempts to permanently alter the demographic and territorial reality of the region.
The Cairo meeting therefore served as another reaffirmation of the Arab League's opposition to forced displacement and its call for urgent international action to protect Palestinians and preserve the possibility of a political solution.
