Propaganda Through Art: India To Make Film On Balakot Strike
Famous Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is to produce a movie on the Indian Air Force strike in Balakot.

The movie will be titled ‘Balakot’ and will be based on the airstrikes carried out on alleged terror camps in Balakot in response to the Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir in February.

The movie will be shot in Hindi and regional languages like Tamil and Telugu. In a statement given to the Indian media, Vivek defended the decision to make the movie. He stated, “I am delighted to receive the requisite permission from the IAF a day before Independence Day. Hollywood film-makers applaud their armed forces, intelligence agencies, industries and leaders. Why should Indian film-makers shy away from doing that for India?”

The movie is being portrayed as a ‘true story’ of the event. In light of rising Hindu nationalist sentiment in India and the rising tensions between Pakistan and India in the past year, it seems the movie will be an effective propaganda piece to sway the people of India against Pakistan.

The movie is expected to release in 2020 and has been shot in Indian-occupied Kashmir, Delhi, and Agra.
