Authorities in Sindh have suspended six revenue department officials for taking a selfie with a person, who had been tested positive for coronavirus and kept in Labour Colony quarantine centre in Sukkur.
Deputy commissioner Khairpur issued a notification on Saturday, suspending the officials – none of whom were wearing protective gear – took a selfie with a resident of Khairpur, who had recently returned from Iran and tested positive for COVID-19.
“The district health officer Khairpur is hereby required to keep the mentioned staff as well other private person at quarantine centre for stipulated period of 14 days, and get further medical process as required with immediate effect,” the notification stated.
The assistant commissioner concerned was also directed to assist the district health officer Khairpur in this regard and submit a compliance report on urgent basis.
