Radhika Apte has been nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Lust Stories. She took to Twitter to express appreciation, stating that she’s ‘thrilled that Indian content is at par with today’s world television.’ She championed the unique artistic space provided by digital platforms and have ‘made it possible for us to better our content and have given us the platform to put it up.’
Sacred Games and Lust Stories are unconventional television series, and were recently criticized by a Shiv Sena party member for portraying a faulty global image of India- however, these shows have been critically appreciated by everyone for their innovation and boldness. Lust Stories is a compilation of four short films by four of India's biggest directors exploring love, sex, and relationships in modern India, while Sacred Games follows the struggle of an honest cop in the corrupt Mumbai.
Karan Johar took to Twitter to celebrate the nomination of Lust Stories, stating that ‘our quartet rocks!’ while the versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddique appreciated Sacred Games as ‘the epitome of innovation in Cinema.’
