The slain doctor’s father and two uncles sustained injuries in the attack. A 9th-grader teenage boy entered their home and opened fire.

According to police, the incident took place when the family was offering prayers. Upon hearing a knock on the door, one of the family members, 31-year-old Tahir Mahmood, opened the door after which the teenage boy entered the house and began firing.

Human Rights Minister criticised for 'callousness'

Before HR Minister Shireen Mazari tweeted the condemnation, she had posted another tweet about an upcoming musical festival hours after the incident.

Social media users took strong exception to what they called her tone-deafness and demanded her to act against perpetrators of violence against the Ahmadi community.
