A video of Usman Mirza, the man arrested for assaulting and harassing a couple, is doing the rounds on social media where he could be seen celebrating and claiming that he has secured a bail. Social media users have been sharing the clip lamenting that the criminal who proudly filmed his act of assaulting and harassing the couple has been released. However, the clip in question is old and the accused is referring to another case under which he was arrested a few months ago.
Usman Mirza is currently under arrest and police have obtained his 2-day remand. As per reports, the phone from which the assault video was recorded has also been taken into possession by the police. Moreover, it has emerged that the incident took place last year. It was earlier reported by a section of media that the incident is two-days old.
Four people who were involved in the assault and harassment of a boy and a girl seen in the viral video have been taken into custody by the Islamabad police.
Registered in the Golra police station, the FIR includes section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 354A (assault or use of criminal force to woman and stripping her of her clothes), 506 (ii) (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The FIR was registered on behalf of the state.
Usman Aziz is a resident of I-8, and co-owns a car showroom dealing with new and used cars and real estate. Apart from Usman, his accomplices Hafizur Rehman and Farhan Shaheen Awan were arrested by the police. The accused were produced in court from where they were remanded in police custody.
