Former senior army officer Faiz Hameed got a clean chit from the Supreme Court during the hearing of the Faizabad sit-in case, as everyone inside the court was afraid of Faiz, except former Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) chairman Absar Alam.
The case was heard by a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Athar Minallah.
While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that he is disappointed with the developments that occurred during the hearing of the Faizabad sit-in case.
He said that Absar Alam hurled direct allegations against Faiz that he was involved in the sit-in and controlling news channels, even though he submitted an affidavit in court as well, but during the hearing, the chief justice was asking other parties who were behind the sit-in instead of relying on Absar’s affidavit.
The analyst said that the chief justice asked Absar if he would present himself before the commission instead of issuing notice to Faiz and directing him to appear before the commission.
Suharwardy said, “They are still scared of Faiz Hameed." "Why is Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa forgiving them?” he questioned.
He further said that the bench is not powerful enough to hold Faiz accountable.
While responding to a query, he raised the question, “Will the chief justice order the filing of a reference against Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) in a foreign funding case?
To another question, Suharwardy said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari doesn’t want to see Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister of the country.
He said that the PPP is offended by why Nawaz got bail and why he is not in Adiala jail. The PML-N will not give a single seat to any PPP leader in Punjab, he added.
