PML-N Leader Nihal Hashmi, Sons Detained For Beating Up Police Officials

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nihal Hashmi and his two sons were arrested after they assaulted the officials of the Karachi police on Friday night.

Naseer Nihal, the son of the PML-N leader, was involved in a road accident and was taken to the nearest police station after he argued with police officials responding to the scene. Naseer hurled abuse and threatened the police. Subsequently, Nihal Hashmi and his wife visited the police station where his sons physically assaulted the police officials present and also tore up their uniforms.

After the incident, Nihal was also arrested by the police, said SSP Saudabad.

A first information report (FIR) was also registered against the PML-N leader and his sons for assaulting police, abusing them, hurling death threats, interfering in government protocol and threatening to attack the police station, reported Express Tribune.

In a video of the incident quoted by Geo News, Hashmi can be heard saying: "You are beating him, you are beating my son. Who are you?"

His son says: "The police tried to come near my family. When I tried to stop them, they broke my phone." "They attacked my sister and mother," his son adds.

In a video statement issued late in the night, the PML-N leader's daughter, Ayesha Hashmi, said, "We were dragged into someone else's matter. They misbehaved with me and my mother."  She said policemen in plainclothes subjected her brother, Naseer Hashmi, to torture and humiliated her family.
