Mufti Qavi Says Cynthia Ritchie Requested Meeting With Him But He Refused
Controversial religious scholar Mufti Abdul Qavi has said that the Islamabad-based US blogger Cynthia Ritchie requested him ‘a number of times’ for a meeting but he refused all the invitations.
According to a news report of a local Urdu daily, Mufti Qavi said, “Cynthia requested me several times to meet her but I refused to do so.”
Earlier, the controversial cleric had said that any drink containing less than 40% alcohol was Halal in Islam. He said that it was permissible for all the Muslims to consume such drinks.
Mufti Qavi during an interview to a digital news outlet said that if Tobacco was Halal for the clerics then all the drinks of today’s world are Halal too for ordinary Muslims. “If any drink with even 100% alcohol is extracted from minerals, it is Halal in Islam,” he added.
Mufti Qavi was one of the suspects in the 2016 murder case of social media personality Qandeel Baloch. The cleric was arrested in 2017 after a court rejected an extension to his pre-arrest bail. The police declared Qavi as a suspect in the case at the request of Qandeel’s father. However, he was granted bail later by a court in Multan.
