Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has approached Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s Cyber Wing against an American blogger Cynthia Ritchie for posting ‘derogatory and slanderous remarks’ about former PM Benazir Bhutto on Twitter.
The complaint was filed by the District President of PPP Islamabad Advocate Shakeel Abbasi who said that the blogger’s remarks caused ‘immense pain and agony to the millions across Pakistan’. He urged the FIA to initiate cyber crime proceedings against Ritchie.
Complaint filed against @CynthiaDRitchie who is defaming Pakistan and Pakistani leaders in a very clever way. She keeps promoting the FAKE stories about Pakistan all the times. She shouldn't be allowed in Pakistan and Should be banned. pic.twitter.com/7HSFPAjpIh

Meanwhile, PPP leaders and supporters on social media also condemned Ritchie’s tweets and urged her to apologise for the same.
Strongly condemn @CynthiaDRitchie – her consistent lies & her vile tweet against #SMBB – How is this foreign national being allowed to malign the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan & the Muslim world, who is a source of pride for us across the world? #Disgusting pic.twitter.com/jAZ0WyPQYO

I usually don’t dignify such garbage but this is libellous, heinous slander based on malicious lies. Attributing such filth to a champion for women’s rights, a martyred prime minister degrades the writer of this bot-handle more than anything else. @Twitter pl take notice of abuse https://t.co/V7JqV2yG5M
