LHC Grants Bail To Man Convicted Of Being Part Of Int'l Child Pornographers' Nexus
Man convicted of child pornography in 2018 had his sentence suspended by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday. He was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in 2017 and was sentenced to jail for seven years in 2018.

Saadat Amin, a resident of Sargodha, was part of an international nexus of child pornographers. He was charged under section 22 of Prevention of Electronic Crime Act 2016 and also imposed a fine of Rs1.2 million on him.

FIA’s cybercrime cell had arrested Amin on the complaint of Norwegian embassy. The prosecution said the convict was engaging children of ages 10 and above for generating revenue internationally from pornographic content including photos and videos.

It said more than 650,000 pictures and videos related to child pornography were recovered from the convict’s possession.

Amin also had close relations with international child pornographers namely Jan Lindstrom in Sweden, Giovani Betotti in Italy, Max Hunter in US, Andrew Moody and Mukhtar in UK. FIA also presented eleven witnesses against the convict.

His appeal before the high court, by the counsel Rana Nadeem Ahmad established that the investigation by FIA was faulty, as it did not include any follow ups on the person convicted in Norway.

Justice Farooq Haider suspended the sentence and released the convict on bail against two surety bonds of Rs 200,000 each.
