PTI Leader Arrested For Spreading Fake News About Coronavirus
Chitral District and Sessions court has rejected the bail-before-arrest (BBA) plea of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Irshad Mukarrar, who was then arrested on Wednesday for spreading fake news of a Chinese national getting affected by coronavirus in Pakistan.

The PTI leader had filed an application seeking bail in a case of spreading fake news that a Chinese national has been diagnosed with coronavirus in Pakistan. The fake news had created panic in the public. The police had booked the PTI leader under section 505 of PPC, section 25 of Telegraph Act and 16 MPO, but he had obtained BBA from the court of senior civil judge.

After hearing the arguments, the court had observed that confirmation of BBA would stifle the prosecution case. Following the bail rejection, the PTI leader was shifted to Drosh police station for further investigation.

Irshad Mukarrar had posted on his Facebook page that a Chinese national had been admitted in a local hospital after being affected by coronavirus. But in reality, the Chinese had rushed to the hospital due to severe stomach ache.
