JUI-F Sindh Leader Asks Govt To Stop 'Vulgar' Aurat March
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam - F (JUI-F) leader Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro has said that the upcoming Aurat March is aimed at spreading 'vulgarity' and 'nudity' and to make Pakistan a secular country, while calling on the government to stop it. In a video message released on social media, the JUI-leader from Larkana, Sindh informed that the party held a consultative meeting in this regard.

He said that the JUI-F supported the rights granted to women by Islam, but cannot allow slogans like 'Mera Jism Meri Marzi' (My body, my choice).

He added that they don't want to take law into their own hands but urge the authorities concerned to ensure that the Aurat March does not take place. The JUI-F leader further said that he has spoken to the administration of Sukkur district and conveyed to them that such marches would not be allowed.

On Monday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) admitted a petition seeking to stop the Aurat March on grounds that it violates the Islamic principles. The LHC petition generated outrage on social media where people have questioned as to how such an absurd petition can be entertained. The Aurat March is scheduled to be held on International Women's Day on March 8 in major cities of the country including Lahore and Karachi.
