Zardari Files For Bail on Medical Grounds
Former president Asif Ali Zardari filed for bail on medical grounds on Tuesday. He is currently undergoing treatment at PIMS in Islamabad for his heart conditions.

The former president’s lawyer filed a writ petition under article 199 of the constitution. The petition was pending before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and accountability court II.

The former president has a history with heart disease and already has had three stents inserted in his heart. Currently, the doctors have attached a Holter monitor to his chest in order to monitor his heart beat for irregularities.

His lawyer, Sardar Latif Khosa has stated that the former president also suffers from arthritis and a low platelet count. All of these conditions cannot be treated properly from jail. The former president has been in jail since the 22nd of October and hasn’t shown any improvement since then.

Given this, Sardar Latif Khosa had also pleaded the court to let the former president be shifted to Karachi for medical treatment. The court denied his request.
