Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s parliamentary party meeting witnessed strong criticism being expressed against the government’s legal team over its mishandling of chief of army staff's extension notification.
According to a report in Express Tribune, the parliamentary meeting was presided over by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. The meeting was held hours after the Supreme Court announced the decision to extend COAS General Bajwa’s tenure by six months while making it conditional to legislation on the matter in the parliament.
The attendees expressed confidence in the decisions of the prime minister and judiciary but expressed severe criticism of the government’s legal team for its ‘disappointing performance’.
Participants viewed that the incompetence of the legal team had put state institutions on collision course and had caused embarrassment to the government.
Member of parliament Noor Alam said that the government’s legal team had made PTI a ‘laughing stock’.
Meeting participants also chastised the legal team for making PTI a target of ridicule in the court.
