A seven-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death in her house by her 18-year-old uncle in Dhoke Chaudhrian area of the city on Friday.
The heinous incident did not end there as the victim was subjected to sexual assault even after her death.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Ali said that the suspect had confessed to murdering the girl after raping her.
Ali stated that the girl’s father was an Afghan national, whose younger brother, the suspect, also lived with the family.
The police official told media that the suspect had gotten married two months ago, but his wife left him.
On Thursday night, after the girl’s father had left his home, the suspect took the girl from her mother’s room and sexually assaulted her.
Following the rape, he covered her body with a blanket and left the house.
The victim’s body was found by her father and brother when they returned home
The body was taken to a private hospital where the doctor informed the family of the sexual assault.
SP Ali arrived on the scene and collected evidence. The body was handed to the parent after the autopsy.
The parents, in the beginning, showed hesitance toward registering a case, but after assurances from the police, an FIR was registered.
