MARDAN: The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has confirmed the first two deaths from Coronavirus on Wednesday.
Saadat Khan, 50, had returned from Saudi Arabia on March 9, 2020, and had been diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier today.
Saadat Khan had been brought to MMC, Mardan District on Wednesday morning and had been diagnosed with Coronavirus.
Reportedly, he had also held a celebratory gathering after returning from his Umrah. The gathering was attended by the entire village. Reports confirm that he had been suspected of COVID-19 on March 16 when he visited the doctor but refused to be quarantined and went back home.
The second case was reported from Peshawar's Lady Reading Hospital. KP's Health Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra confirmed that the man, 36, was from Hangu.
The number of confirmed Coronavirus patients in Pakistan has now reached 296 and at least one person has died of the virus. On Tuesday, Punjab government had initially confirmed that a Coronavirus patient had died at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital but the confirmation was later retracted.
On Wednesday too, the Gilgit-Baltistan government initially confirmed that a person had died in Chilas from Coronavirus but later retracted the statement.
