Over 30 Pakistani students studying in their home country and in China participated in the mega event and performed tremendously well. Nearly 300 contestants from 70 countries in five continents of Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Oceania also participated in the event.
The students of Pakistan Embassy College Beijing (PECB) bagged 5 positions in speech, photography and music competitions.
PECB student Abdul Rehman secured first position in the speech contest while Islam Khallili and Thembekeli secured third place in the photography competition.
In the music category, Maaz Ali and Fareen Maharver bagged third position. Bilawal Khan, Istahsan Arshad and Ronica Wilson, students of the Superior College Lahore, who were sponsored by their college to participate in the contest, secured top slots in different categories of music competitions.
Cultural Counselor Raheel Tariq said that when students were invited to attend the event, they expressed reluctance, but with Pakistan Embassy's assurance, they decided to participate in the event. Lauding the achievements, he said that it was the result of years of hard work and commitment shown by students and parents.
He said that participation of Pakistani youth in Chinese events will further strengthen relationships between the two countries and also a great opportunity to present Pakistani culture to people from all over the world.
Participant Rehman said that the victory was a result of blessings of Allah Almighty, prayers of his parents and efforts of his teachers. He said that reading, writing and practice is what led to his win.
