Federal government has given No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the army’s sub-department, Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DESTO), to manufacture hand sanitisers on an ‘urgent basis’, following its shortage in the capital.
Digital media outlet Independent Urdu reported that Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Hamza Shafqat has said that in last few days, hand sanitisers of worth Rs 50 lack were sold in Islamabad. They quoted DC Islamabad as saying, “considering the shortage of hand sanitisers in the city, the federal government on urgent basis gave the sanitisers’ manufacturing NOC to DESTO, to make them available in the markets as soon as possible.”
Hamza Shafqat said that so far, the authorities have distributed 1 lack masks in Islamabad. “Due to the excessive sale of hand sanitisers, the authorities have no Ethanol in their stocks, and now they are importing it to manufacture further sanitisers,” the DC added.
