Traffic police in the Mansehra district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have banned female students and women from sitting in the front seats of school vans.
The police say they have made the decision after parents complained that drivers were harassing their children.
Express News reported that the parents complained the drivers were bullying the students seated on the front seat of the cars, particularly in vans, since the van's front cabin is isolated from the rest of the vehicle and other passengers. The parents also complained about the tinted windows of the vans which makes it easier for the drivers to harass the students.
Along with barring the students from sitting in front, the drivers allegedly involved in the harassment will be fined and tried in the court accordingly.
