Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the government would register all foreign nationals residing in Pakistan.
"The interior ministry has decided that all foreigners [in Pakistan] will be registered whosoever they may be," Rashid said while addressing media in Islamabad earlier today (Thursday).
He further said that fake Afghan identity cards were found and the individuals making them were arrested. "We will register every foreigner in light of the developing situation," he added.
'Alien cards' will be issued to foreigners living in the country using which they will be allowed to open bank accounts, get sim cards and facilitate their travel, he said.
