Journalist Hamna Zubair has been compiling a list of celebrities who have distanced themselves from controversial writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar after his recent abusive outburst at analyst Marvi Sirmed on TV.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar appeared alongside Marvi Sirmed to discuss Aurat March 2020, but lost his temper and began to hurl abuse at her after claiming that she was interrupting him. Pakistani social media has since then been in the grip of the unseemly moment on TV, with some prominent personalities coming out in condemnation of Qamar.
The list being compiled by Hamna Zubair appears to be an ongoing process and aims to collect the names of those who “had the courage to distance themselves” from Qamar publicly.
The stars on it include Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane, Sanam Saeed and Osman Khalid Butt. Director Sarmad Khoosat made it to the list soon thereafter.
