Police Surround Shehbaz Sharif’s Residence After He Misses NAB Hearing
A battalion of Punjab police and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials have surrounded PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s mansion in Lahore, after he did not appear for his hearing at NAB in the money laundering and possession of excessive assets case.

Footage on local television channels showed the party members and workers gathered outside the Shehbaz residence, protesting against the police. The police forces have come out in anti-riot gear, thwarting PML-N workers and journalists from getting through the barricades. According to reports, Sharif was not home when the police and NAB team arrived.

Earlier today, Shehbaz Sharif was summoned at the NAB hearing to be held accountable for owning assets with corruption charges involved, but he said he is unwell and stayed absent from the meeting.

Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement submitted to the bureau that due to multiple officers of NAB testing out positive for the coronavirus, he will not be able to show up physically for the hearing. However, he will be available for a video-call investigation via Skype.

PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed strong sentiment towards the government and NAB as reported by Dawn News TV, where she said, “Nobody criticises Imran Khan or arrests Buzdar. The circus is only to distract the public from the corruption taking place on the government’s end.”

She said that the 'NAB and Niazi cooperation' is being utilised as a response to the coronavirus failure and the loot of sugar worth Rs3 billion.

“This circus is only being carried out because they don't have the courage to call Imran Khan out or to arrest him and Buzdar," she said.
