A Pakistani surgeon, Dr Naeem Chaudhry, lost his life due to complications in his health as he fought coronavirus in Saudi Arabia.
He is the first doctor to have lost his life due to the virus in the kingdom and was employed in the General Surgery Department at Hira General Hospital in Makkah.
The Director General of Makkah Health Affairs Dr. Wael Hamzah Mutair said that the healthcare industry is in deep grief in the loss of life of one of the best doctors in the city.
He also paid a tribute to Dr Naeen for being one of the most important frontline workers in the coronavirus crisis in Saudu Arabia.
Dr Mutair also said that the Pakistani doctor had come in contact with a coronavirus patient during his work hours and that caused his demise. His only recurring health problem was high blood pressure.
Saudi Arabia reported 2,591 new coronavirus cases and 31 virus-related deaths, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the kingdom to 95,748 and death toll to 642, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, 1,651 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the kingdom to 70,616.
