Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad was heading the 7-member bench that heard the petition filed for holding the election in GB and setting up the interim government to oversee it.
In the April 28 hearing, the Attorney General had requested the apex court to advise the government on the matter. The judges had flatly refused to provide any advice, telling the government to handle the matter on its own.
Attorney General had told the court that GB Order 2018 was silent on setting up an interim government for overseeing the elections. The court finally allowed the federal government today to make necessary amendments in the 2018 order for the formation of the interim government.
Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked that the court will explain the procedure of holding the elections in the detailed judgment.
