If you knew of him, you loved him. There's no other way of knowing Irrfan Khan, the Bollywood superstar, who touched millions of lives before losing his battle to colon cancer at the age of 54. The news of his demise was shared on Twitter by 'Piku' director, Shoojit Sircar. “My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. Irfaan Khan salute,” he wrote. Not just versatile or an acting powerhouse, but Irrfan has brought to life some of the most iconic and relatable characters on the big screen.

While we grieve the loss of a great actor and a beautiful human, let us commemorate him through what he loved the most, giving a performance! Some of the most acclaimed Irrfan Khan movies are:

Hindi Medium

Irrfan Khan teamed up with Pakistani heart throb Saba Qamar to entertain the audience for a light-hearted family drama which highlighted today's social issue of kids schooling. The film might have witnessed a decent run at the box office but it surely won over the audience which even lead to the audience making a sequel 'Angrezi Medium' which was released recently.

Lunchbox

Irrfan Khan not only stole the show by playing the character of a widower Saajan Fernandes in the film 'The Lunchbox' but also proved his acting prowess by displaying sheer brilliance on the celluloid. The film which revolved around the beautiful bond between Saajan-Ila and how a lunchbox developed a friendly bond between them won over the audience. The Ritesh Batra directorial served as the best platform for Irrfan to prove his versatility on the screen.

Piku

Irrfan managed to steal the thunder from the likes of Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan when he teamed up with them for Shoojit Sircar's comedy flick 'Piku'. Despite playing a side role of a taxi business owner, Rana Chaudhry, Irrfan nailed it on the silver screen with his perfect timing and scintillating acting skills.

Slumdog Millionaire

One of the most successful films in the history of cinema, Danny Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire' which won big at the 2008 Oscars might have featured Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto in the lead but Irrfan did manage to make his presence felt as he essayed the character of a Police officer. The film took the audience on an eventful journey of a young boy from the slum to becoming a millionaire and how his experiences helped him in the journey.

Haider

Despite playing a small character of Roohdaar in Vishal Bhardwaj's modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, and Basharat Peer's memoir, Curfewed Night set in Kashmir, Irrfan completely owned the film like a boss. The film which starred Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon in lead roles might have failed to excel at the box office but is a cinematic delight to all Irrfan fans.
