ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan's Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza said on Friday that around 14,015 cases of dengue have been confirmed in Pakistan as the federal capital recorded the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours.
Addressing a press conference in the capital, Dr Mirza said that a total of 790 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, with 209 cases reported in Punjab, around 216 in Islamabad, at least 120 in Sindh, around 169 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and four from Balochistan.
He said the data showed that in the past 24 hours, the maximum number of cases have been reported in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Out of these, at least 381 cases were reported in the twin cities with a ratio of 48 per cent, thus becoming the most dengue-affected areas in the country.
Dr Mirza said that 26 deaths have occurred so far from dengue virus throughout the country, while adding that no death was reported in the last 24 hours.
