The federal government filed references of misconduct against three superior court judges for allegedly hiding properties they own abroad.

According to a report in the Express Tribune, President Arif Alvi has sent a reference of misconduct against the judges that own properties abroad in their own or spouses’ name.

According to another report, Justice Qazi Faez Isa is among the judges against whom the government has filed the references

The said judges include an SC judge who failed to mention a property in his wife’s name in Spain, in his wealth statement.

According to legal experts, the case might hinge on if the spouse was named as a dependent or not in the apex court judge’s tax records.

Complaints have also been filed against a few high courts judges, one of whom allegedly owns inherited property in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, bar council representatives are meeting to decide their reaction to the development.
