Hearing of the petition against suspension of COAS General Qamar Bajwa's extension in service is underway in the Supreme Court (SC). Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa asked the attorney general if the procedural mistakes in the extension order have been accepted, to which the latter responded that they have been rectified but not accepted. "How can they be rectified if the government hasn't accepted the blunders," the CJ asked.
The AG further told the court that it is wrong to say that the cabinet did not approve the extension decision. He also presented a document showing federal government's fresh approval of the decision to extend COAS Bajwa's term.
Meanwhile, the CJ clarified that it is not a suo motu case as was reported by media but Riaz Hanif's petition against the COAS's extension is being heard.
This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
