Daughter of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari, criticised the government on their exclusion of over 800000 people from the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
She went on to say that the government has cut out around a million women from the program over a flawed metric like the phone bill of her spouse.

The recent announcement of cuts was made by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Welfare and Poverty Dr. Sania Nishtar. According to her, this will allow for new people to be part of the program and to reap its benefits.
This comes in the aftermath of the PTI government’s cabinet expressing resentment over the program. They had said that most beneficiaries of the program are PPP supporters.
BISP is a cash handout program that is supported by the World Bank. The programme provides the poorest of the poor with additional money, which is dispensed to the women of a household.
