The postmortem report of deceased orphan of the Daar ul Amaan (Kashana) shelter home Iqra Kainat has revealed that she died due to hunger and thirst. Following her illness, the girl was shifted to Gangaram Hospital from Edhi centre where she passed away on February 5.
Before her marriage, Iqra was a resident of the Kashana shelter home. Former Kashana superintendent Afshan Latif had alleged that Iqra Kainat was murdered in a bid to wash away the proofs of sexual abuse at the shelter because the deceased was an important witness of the case.
According to the postmortem report available with Naya Daur, Iqra died at the hospital due to hunger and thirst and samples acquired from her stomach have been sent for forensic examination to find out whether she was poisoned.
Kashana Scandal
In November last year, Dar-ul-Aman’s Lahore superintendent had alleged that orphan girls living in the shelter homes were being ‘misused’ to fulfill demands of ministers and government high-ups.
She had stated that orphan girls were being misused under the guise of giving them shelter and food.
